REGULATIONS ON HANDHELD CALCULATORS FOR AP EXAMS

To ensure fairness, transparency, and compliance with the College Board’s policies during the AP Exam administration, candidates must carefully review the following rules regarding calculator usage:

  1. GENERAL REGULATIONS ON CALCULATOR USAGE
  • Candidates may only use calculators that are included on the College Board’s approved list. Candidates should verify eligibility prior to exam day.
  • A maximum of two handheld calculators may be brought into the exam room.
  • Candidates are not allowed to share calculators with others during the exam.
  • Calculators may not be used to store exam content or to transmit information.
  • Candidates may still take the exam without a calculator or with a non-approved calculator (though such calculators will not be allowed for use).
  • Any violation of these rules may result in the cancellation of exam scores.
  1. DESMOS CALCULATOR INTEGRATED INTO THE BLUEBOOK APPLICATION

For the 2025–2026 AP Exam administration, the Desmos calculator integrated into the Bluebook application has been updated. However, the rules regarding approved handheld calculators remain unchanged.

AP Statistics: Candidates may now use the Desmos calculator built into the Bluebook exam application.

Regulations on using the Desmos calculator integrated into Bluebook:

  • To ensure suitability for each subject, different versions of the Desmos calculator are integrated in Bluebook, aligned with each exam’s requirements.
  • Candidates may only use the integrated Desmos version in Bluebook. Use of the Desmos web version or standalone app is not permitted.
