ANNOUNCEMENT: OPEN AP EXAMS REGISTRATION IN 2023 – 2024 SCHOOL YEAR

About AP

College Board’s Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) offers college-level courses and exams that students can take while in high school.  Since 1955, AP has enabled millions of students to take U.S. university undergraduate-level courses and earn undergraduate degree credit, advanced placement, or both. Taking AP can help students save money and time as well as stand out to colleges. With qualifying AP Exam scores, students can earn credit and/or placement from nearly all colleges and universities in the United States and Canada — as well as many institutions in more than 100 other countries, and stand out in admissions.

AP Exams

IIG Vietnam is delighted to be Vietnam’s first test center authorized by the AP Program to administer AP Exams to all eligible students (see eligibility policies below).  

AP Exams are offered each year during the first two full weeks of May.

Most AP Exams can be taken without the corresponding AP course. Some subjects such as AP Computer Science Principles require students to be enrolled in the course in the same year they take the exam. 

Eligibility to Test

Must Be in High School (Secondary School): AP’s official policy:
Only high school-affiliated students can take AP exams, at either their own enrolled high school or at other AP-authorized high schools and test centers. The high school-affiliated cohort includes: students actively enrolled at a high school, or high school-level students who are homeschooled, participate in independent study, and/or attend virtual schools; and any actively enrolled students who may be prepared to take an AP Exam prior to the ninth grade, or recent high school graduates who need a specific AP Exam for university admission.
Additional policy set forth by IIG:

Must reside in, or are citizens of Vietnam.

Student must present an original and valid Passport or national ID (applicable for Vietnamese only) with photograph and signature. Students who cannot provide original, valid ID required by IIG Vietnam will not be admitted to test.

2024 AP Exam Schedule 

AP Exams will be administered as paper & pencil exams in person at IIG test center(s) only during: May 6–10 and May 13–17 for Regular Testing.

Early testing or testing at times other than those published by AP is not permitted under any circumstances.

Our center currently does not offer most of the AP Exams that require additional equipment or that have a course portfolio component (language exams, Music Theory, Art and Design, Seminar, and Research).

Our center only offers Regular Testing.

AP Exam Registration Dates

Test Registration Period 1

September 26th, 2023 through November 1st, 2023

Regular Testing Fee for Period 1: 4.750.000 VND per exam

Test Registration Period 2

Opens November 20th, 2023 and will close in February 29th, 2024

Regular Testing Fee for Period 2: 5.720.000 VND per exam (4.750.000 VND per exam + 970.000 VND late ordering fee per exam)

AP Testing Policies:

• Can take any or all the 4 Physics exams in the same year.
• Cannot retake an exam in the same year; you may retake it in a subsequent year.
• Cannot take both Calculus AB and Calculus BC Exams in the same year.
• AP Computer Science Principles Exam: To register, you must show you are enrolled in the corresponding AP course as there is a portfolio component that your AP teacher must review to receive a complete AP Exam score. You have to submit a Confirmation letter signed and stamped by your school’s Principal stating that you have enrolled in AP Computer Science Principles course in the school year by November 1st, 2023. For the other exams we offer, course enrollment is not required.
• You cannot take 2 regular exams scheduled for the same date and time. Decide which exam you wish to take this year and take the other exam next year or find another test center/school to take the second exam.
• If you fail to arrive on time or do not meet the necessary eligibility criteria and requirements to test, you will not be admitted to the exam.
• You cannot register for the same AP Exam at two different schools or test centers.
• However, you may register for different exams at more than one school or test center. Use the same College Board account (same AP ID) to register for all exams.

Reschedule/Cancel Policy/Refunds

• Candidate is responsible for verifying the exam subject is correct. Once registration and payment are complete, you cannot change the subject(s) chosen for the AP Exam(s).
• In case a candidate desires to entirely cancel the exam (without registering for any subjects), an email must be sent to IIG Vietnam at info@iigvietnam.edu.vn before November 1, 2023, 11:59PM Vietnam time.
• If the candidate’s email request to cancel an exam is received before November 1, 2023, 11:59PM Vietnam time, a full exam fee refund will be granted.
• If the candidate’s email request to cancel an exam is received between November 1, 2023, 11:59PM Vietnam time and February 29, 2024, 11:59PM Vietnam time, a 50% exam fee refund will be provided.
• Candidates will not be eligible for refunds if they fail to appear for the exam or fail to provide required documentation on exam day or if the candidate’s email request to cancel an exam is received on or after March 1, 2024. 

ID Policy

Student must present an original and valid Passport or national ID (applicable for Vietnamese only) with photograph and signature. Photocopies of the ID will not be accepted. Any visa applications or passport renewals must be done in advance to ensure that the student has a valid, original ID in hand on exam day. Students who cannot provide original, valid ID required by IIG Vietnam will not be admitted to test.

Four Steps to Register Your AP Exam with IIG Vietnam

Before you start, review IIG’s registration process and policy:

• Students must first register and pay IIG Vietnam through IIG’s website. Once payment is confirmed, you’ll receive “join codes” for each paid exam.
• Students then must log into College Board’s My AP website to complete exam registration with AP directly.
• Afterwards, Students must update their AP ID on IIG Vietnam’s registration page to complete the registration process.

Note:

-    Student registration personal information (name, email address, date of birth) on IIG Vietnam’s registration page must be identical with the information registered via College Board’s My AP.

-    ONLY tests that have been registered via College Board’s My AP and for which payment has been received by IIG Vietnam will be ordered.

-    If you register for an exam in My AP with a join code, but do not pay IIG Vietnam directly for the exams, or if you pay IIG Vietnam without completing exam registration in My AP, you will not be able to test.

-    Student’s registration will be deemed invalid if you do not update your AP ID with IIG Vietnam.

-    Be very careful to verify the exam subject at every step. Once registration and payment are complete, you cannot change the subject(s) chosen for the AP Exam(s).

Step 1. Register and pay IIG Vietnam for AP Exam(s).

Complete your profile information and payment for the exam(s) selected.  

You will receive a payment confirmation email with join codes and detailed registration instructions necessary to complete steps 2,3,4.

Step 2. Confirm My AP account information and AP ID.

Log in to College Board’s AP website to complete your registration for AP Exams, via My AP: https://myap.collegeboard.org/login. Use an existing College Board student account if you already have one that you used for SAT, PSAT, and AP. Create an account only if you do not already have one.

Step 3. Join the exam in My AP with the provided join code(s). 

Before you begin this step, make sure you have the join codes from Step 1 and that you can log into My AP.

By November 1, 11:59PM Vietnam time: Login to My AP (http://myap.collegeboard.org/) and use each of the join code(s) provided by IIG Vietnam for the exams you’ve paid for.

Please complete this key process to complete the exam registration as soon as you receive the payment confirmation email from IIG Vietnam. Please note that join codes will expire after the registration deadline.

Before you log out of My AP, locate your AP ID under ‘My AP Profile’.  You will need it for the next step below.

Step 4: Update your AP ID on your IIG registration record

Get your AP ID from My AP and add it in ap.iigvietnam.com after payment so we can verify payment with your exam and submit your exam order to the AP Program.

Important: Students must ensure that they have registered for all AP Exams, paid the exam fee(s) to IIG Vietnam, and completed the entire process mentioned in the above 4 steps by the deadlines listed. There will be no extensions to the deadlines allowed later and no refund will be provided.

After completing registration/payment: The test center address or location will be provided and you will also receive an email of your admission ticket by April 20^th, 2024.
