GUIDELINES FOR AP EXAMS CANDIDATES

1.    Eligibility to test:

- Only high school-affiliated students can take AP exams, at either their own enrolled high school or at other AP-authorized high schools and test centers. The high school-affiliated cohort includes: students actively enrolled at a high school, or high school-level students who are homeschooled, participate in independent study, and/or attend virtual schools; and any actively enrolled students who may be prepared to take an AP Exam prior to the ninth grade, or recent high school graduates who need a specific AP Exam for university admission.

- Must reside in, or are citizens of Vietnam.

- Student must present an original and valid Passport or national ID (applicable for Vietnamese only) with photograph and signature. Students who cannot provide original, valid ID required by IIG Vietnam will not be admitted to test.

2.    Exam Registration:

- Candidates are required to first complete online registration via IIG Vietnam's registration portal.

- Following registration and payment, candidates must then also register for the exam through the College Board's system (myap.collegeboard.org), adhering to provided instructions.

- Approximately 2 weeks before the exam date, candidates will receive a test admission ticket.

- Registering on the College Board system without finalizing payment on IIG Vietnam's registration portal will render candidates ineligible for the exam. Likewise, completing payment on IIG Vietnam's portal without registering on the College Board system will result in exam ineligibility.

- Successful registration encompasses three steps: (1) completing payment and updating AP ID on IIG Vietnam's registration portal, (2) registering for the exam on the College Board's system, and (3) receiving a admission ticket from IIG Vietnam.

3.    Exam Rules and Regulations:

- Candidates can attempt 1-4 Physics exams within the same year.

- Registering twice for the same subject in a year is prohibited; retaking the exam is allowed in the subsequent year.

- Candidates cannot enroll for both Calculus AB and Calculus BC exams within the same year.

- Simultaneous scheduling of 2 regular exams on the same day and time is not permissible. Candidates must prioritize one exam before the other.

- AP Computer Science Principles examinees must show you are enrolled in the corresponding AP course as there is a portfolio component that your AP teacher must review to receive a complete AP Exam score. You have to submit a Confirmation letter signed and stamped by your school’s Principal stating that you have enrolled in AP Computer Science Principles course in the school year by November 1, 2023, 11:59PM Vietnam time.

- Timely arrival, adherence to security protocols, and meeting identification requirements are crucial; failure to comply will result in denied entry.

- Candidates are obligated to present an original, valid ID/Citizen card or Passport containing a photo and signature. Copies of these documents will not be accepted. To ensure compliance, any visa or passport extensions should be managed in advance, guaranteeing the possession of valid, original identification on the test day.

- Valid ID/Citizen cards and Passports should be unaltered, undamaged, and issued by a recognized police or government agency. Plasticized or re-pressed ID/Citizen cards are not accepted.

- For international candidates who reside in Vietnam, only original, valid passports are considered as valid identification.

- In the event that a candidate fails to produce valid identification and admission ticket on the exam day, they will be unable to participate in the test, and the exam fee will not be refunded.

6.    Exam Guidelines:

Prior to the Exam Date:

- Candidates must ensure they possess complete identification documents and have obtained the admission ticket from IIG Vietnam.

- Thoroughly familiarize themselves with the examination room regulations, understanding items that are permitted and those that are prohibited within the examination environment.

- Plan to arrive at the exam venue 30 minutes before the scheduled exam time to complete the entry procedures.

On the Day of the Exam:

Candidates are required to be present at the test site 30 minutes before the exam commencement for check-in. They must bring:

- Exam admission ticket

- Valid passport or ID/Citizen card

6.1 Permissible Items in the Exam Room:

- HB or 2B pencils equipped with an eraser for multiple-choice sections

- Black or dark blue ink pen for the essay section

- A watch that does not have internet connectivity, sound, or alarms

- Up to 2 approved calculators for exams like Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physics, or statistics tests. See acceptable calculators.

- A ruler is allowed for Physics test only; a protractor is prohibited.

- Identification documents and the admission ticket

6.2 Prohibited Items in the Exam Room:

- Electronic devices, including phones, smartwatches, fitness trackers, cameras, transceivers, or any form of electronic or communication device.

- Any documents aside from ID documents and the examination admission ticket.

- Books, reference materials, notes, compasses, protractors, mechanical pencils, or pencils that aren't HB/No.2 pencils, dictionaries, erasers, markers, or crayons.

- Scratch paper is not allowed, except for the Chinese and Japanese exams, where it will be provided.

- Clocks with beeping, noises, or alarms.

- Unauthorized handheld calculators or calculators in exams that candidates are prohibited from using.

- Earplugs.

- File holder.

- Incendiary items or weapons.

- Food and beverages are not permitted in the exam room; however, candidates can leave them outside the room for consumption during breaks.

During Breaks:

- Throughout the prescribed break between Sections 1 and 2 of the AP Exam, or any other unspecified break, candidates are strictly prohibited from using any materials, electronic or communication devices, including cell phones, and must not share or discuss test content with other candidates or individuals.

- Candidates cannot exit the test area during the exam, including the prescribed break.

- Candidates discovered possessing prohibited items during the exam or breaks may be expelled from the exam room, have their device confiscated, forfeit their score, and/or be disallowed from further testing.

6.3 Exam Violations:

Candidates are strictly prohibited from engaging in the following actions during the AP exam:

- Engaging in deliberate cheating on the AP exam.

- Failing to complete the designated section of the exam within the allocated time.

- Using or attempting to use prohibited items, including unauthorized scratch paper or reference materials.

- Using or attempting to use a cell phone or any electronic device during the exam period or breaks.

- Using or attempting to use artificial intelligence tools, including tools like Generative Pre-training Transformers (e.g., GPT-4).

- Exiting the exam room, designated testing area, or assigned break area without permission and/or exceeding the allotted break time.

- Reproducing or attempting to reproduce any portion of the AP exam in any format (e.g., photographing or copying).

- Sharing AP test content during or after the exam using any means, including but not limited to email, text messages, calls, images, social media, or the internet.

- Inscribing answers or test-related information on one's clothing, shoes, body, or personal belongings.

- Using assistive devices that have not been authorized by the College Board.

- Removing or attempting to remove a page or portion of a page from the test booklet.

- Intentionally removing any part of the AP test or related notes from the exam room.

- Bringing food or beverages into the exam room (unless pre-approved by the College Board as an accommodation).

- Sharing a handheld calculator with other candidates during the exam.

- Replicating the work of another candidate or copying from external sources.

- Submitting work that is not original. Any content derived from external sources, such as the internet, books, or classroom materials, is not acceptable for any section of the AP test.

- Deliberately offering or receiving assistance of any kind to another person during or after the test. Instances of providing or receiving help will be subject to investigation.

- Taking the test on behalf of others.

- Enlisting someone else to take the test on your behalf.

- Instigating disorderly conduct.

- Displaying threatening behavior towards fellow candidates, test personnel, supervisors, or IIG Vietnam staff.

- Disregarding the rules and instructions provided by the supervisor.

Violations will be reported to the College Board. Subsequent consequences may include test cancellation and the forfeiture of exam fees.
