ANNOUNCEMENT: OPEN AP EXAMS REGISTRATION IN 2024 – 2025 SCHOOL YEAR

About AP

College Board’s Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) offers college-level courses and exams that students can take while in high school.  Since 1955, AP has enabled millions of students to take U.S. university undergraduate-level courses and earn undergraduate degree credit, advanced placement, or both. Taking AP can help students save money and time as well as stand out to colleges. With qualifying AP Exam scores, students can earn credit and/or placement from nearly all colleges and universities in the United States and Canada — as well as many institutions in more than 100 other countries and stand out in admissions.

AP Exams

IIG Vietnam is delighted to be Vietnam’s first test center authorized by the AP Program to administer AP Exams to all eligible students (see eligibility policies below). 

AP Exams are offered each year during the first two full weeks of May.

Most AP Exams can be taken without the corresponding AP course. Some subjects such as AP Computer Science Principles require students to be enrolled in the course in the same year, they take the exam. 

Eligibility to Test

The AP exam is open to the following candidates:

• High school students currently enrolled at a high school, including those who are homeschooled, attending independent study programs, or enrolled in online schools.
• Middle school students wishing to take the exam before completing Grade 9.
• Recent high school graduates who need to take the AP exam for university admission.

     Students can take the AP exam at their current school or at authorized AP testing centers.

Starting from the 2024-2025 academic year, AP exams will transition from paper-based to either a fully digital based or a hybrid combination of computer-based and paper-based formats.

Subjects that will be fully digital include AP Computer Science A; AP Computer Science Principles; AP English Language and Composition; AP English Literature and Composition; AP Psychology; AP Human Geography.

Subjects that will be hybrid digital (Students complete multiple-choice questions and view free-response questions in Bluebook. They handwrite their free-response answers in paper exam booklets that are returned for scoring) include: AP Biology; AP Calculus AB; AP Calculus BC; AP Chemistry; AP Macroeconomics; AP Microeconomics; AP Physics 1: Algebra-Based; AP Physics 2: Algebra-Based; AP Physics C: Mechanics; AP Statistics

Candidates need to prepare their own devices to take the AP exam, such as:

Laptops or tablets (running Windows 10 or later); MacBooks (running MacOS 11.7.5 or later); iPads (running iPadOS 15.0 or later)

Candidates must download the Bluebook™ app to take the exam. (Instructions for downloading the app can be found at: Bluebook (collegeboard.org)).

Additional Requirements:

• Candidates must be either Vietnamese citizens or currently residing in Vietnam.
• Candidates must present valid, original identification (Passport or Vietnamese Citizen Identification Card) with a photo and signature. Those unable to provide the required documents will not be permitted to sit for the exam.

2025 AP Exam Schedule 

AP exams will be held at IIG testing centers during two weeks: May 5 – 9 and May 12 – 16 for regular testing.

Early testing or testing at times other than those published by AP is not permitted under any circumstances.

Our center currently does not offer most of the AP Exams that require additional equipment or that have a course portfolio component (language exams, Music Theory, Art and Design, Seminar, and Research).

IIG administers both regular testing and late testing (which incurs additional fees) in accordance with the schedule set by the College Board.

AP Exam Registration Dates

Test Registration Period 1

September 24th, 2024 through November 1st, 2024

Regular Testing Fee for Period 1: 4.860.000 VND per exam 

Test Registration Period 2

Opens November 20^th, 2024 and will close in February 28^th, 2025

Regular Testing Fee for Period 2: 5.850.000 VND per exam

For candidates who have registered for the first or second testing session but are unable to attend due to unavoidable circumstances (such as scheduling conflicts or unexpected illness on the exam day) that are accepted by IIG, they will be eligible to transfer to the late testing schedule. A late testing fee of 995,000 VND per exam will apply.

Late testing will be conducted according to the College Board schedule. If there is a need for such an arrangement, candidates should promptly contact IIG Vietnam via email at info@iigvietnam.edu.vn or by calling the hotline at 1900 636 929 for assistance.

AP Testing Policies:

• Candidates can attempt 1-4 Physics exams within the same school year.
• Registering twice for the same subject in a year is prohibited; retaking the exam is allowed in the subsequent year.
• Candidates cannot register for both Calculus AB and Calculus BC exams within the same school year.
• Simultaneous scheduling of 2 regular exams on the same day and time is not permissible. Candidates must prioritize one exam before the other.
• Candidates registering for the AP Computer Science Principles exam must confirm their participation in an AP course led by an instructor and agree to submit their project by 11:59 PM EST on April 30, 2025 (or 10:59 AM, May 1, 2025, Vietnam Time). Failure to submit on time will result in no score and no refund. Candidates must also adhere to security and identification requirements, as failure to comply will result in disqualification.
• Timely arrival, adherence to security protocols, and meeting identification requirements are crucial; failure to comply will result in denied entry.
• You cannot register for the same AP Exam at two different schools or test centers.
• However, you may register for different exams at more than one school or test center. Use the same College Board account (same AP ID) to register for all exams.

Reschedule/Cancel Policy/Refunds

• Candidates are responsible for registering for the correct exam subjects. Once registration and payment are completed, candidates cannot change the registered exam subjects.
• If a candidate wishes to cancel their exam schedule (i.e., not register for any subject), they must submit a request to IIG Vietnam by 11:59 PM on November 1, 2024 (Vietnam Time) via email at info@iigvietnam.edu.vn.
• Candidates who submit a cancellation request by 11:59 PM on November 1, 2024 (Vietnam Time) will receive a full refund of the exam fees.
• Candidates who submit a cancellation request between 11:59 PM on November 1, 2024, and 11:59 PM on February 28, 2025 (Vietnam Time) will receive a 50% refund of the exam fees.
• No refund will be issued if the candidate fails to attend the exam, does not provide the required documentation on the exam day, or does not submit a cancellation request by February 28, 2025.

ID Policy

Student must present an original and valid Passport or national ID (applicable for Vietnamese only) with photograph and signature. Photocopies of the ID will not be accepted. Any visa applications or passport renewals must be done in advance to ensure that the student has a valid, original ID in hand on exam day. Students who cannot provide original, valid ID required by IIG Vietnam will not be admitted to test.

Four Steps to Register Your AP Exam with IIG Vietnam

All candidates should carefully review the regulations, policies, and deadlines for AP registration here before proceeding with the instructions below.

• First, candidates must register and complete the payment process through the IIG Vietnam registration portal. Upon successful payment, candidates will receive 'Join Codes' via an email confirmation from IIG Vietnam for each exam they have registered for.
• Next, candidates must log in to their College Board account and access the My AP section to register for their chosen exam directly with College Board.
• Then, candidates must update their AP ID on the IIG Vietnam registration page to complete the registration process.

Note:

• The personal information that candidate filled on the IIG Vietnam registration page, including name, email address, and date of birth, must exactly match the information they registered on My AP with the College Board.
• ONLY tests that have been registered via College Board’s My AP and for which payment has been received by IIG Vietnam will be ordered. 
• If you register for an exam in My AP using a join code but do not complete the payment with IIG Vietnam, or if you register and complete on IIG Vietnam registration website for an exam without complete the exam registration in My AP with College Board, you will not be eligible to take the exam.
• Candidates are required to update their AP ID in the Transaction History section on the IIG Vietnam registration website to complete the registration process. Failure to update the AP ID will result in ineligibility to take the exam.
• Candidates must carefully review the exam subjects before registering and making payment. Once the registration and payment process is completed, changes to the exam subjects will not be permitted. For further details, please refer here.

Step 1. Register and pay IIG Vietnam for AP Exam(s).

Complete your profile information and payment for the exam(s) selected.  

You will receive a payment confirmation email with join codes and detailed registration instructions necessary to complete steps 2,3,4.

Step 2. Confirm My AP account information and AP ID.

Log in to College Board’s AP website to complete your registration for AP Exams, via My AP: https://myap.collegeboard.org/login. Use an existing College Board student account if you already have one that you used for SAT, PSAT, and AP. Create an account only if you do not already have one.

Step 3. Join the exam in My AP with the provided join code(s). 

Before you begin this step, make sure you have the join codes from Step 1 and that you can log into My AP.

By November 1^st 2024, 11:59PM (GMT +7): Login to My AP (http://myap.collegeboard.org/) and use each of the join code(s) provided by IIG Vietnam for the exams you’ve paid for.

Please complete this key process to complete the exam registration as soon as you receive the payment confirmation email from IIG Vietnam. Please note that join codes will expire after the registration deadline.

Before you log out of My AP, locate your AP ID under ‘My AP Profile’.  You will need it for the next step below.

Step 4: Update your AP ID on your IIG registration record

Get your AP ID from My AP and add it in ap.iigvietnam.com after payment so we can verify payment with your exam and submit your exam order to the AP Program.

Important: Students must ensure that they have registered for all AP Exams, paid the exam fee(s) to IIG Vietnam, and completed the entire process mentioned in the above 4 steps by the deadlines listed. There will be no extensions to the deadlines allowed later and no refund will be provided.

After completing registration/payment: The test center address or location will be provided and you will also receive an email of your admission ticket by April 20^th, 2024.

The exact test center address and location will be within the city center (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh city and Da Nang) and will be posted online and by an email of your admission ticket, both by April 20^th, 2025.
