What is the TOEFL iBT test, and what does it measure?

TOEFL iBT test, designed and administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS), is a test of English as a foreign language. The test evaluates all four English skills – listening, reading, speaking and writing – in an academic context.
The TOEFL iBT test is one of the world’s most highly regarded and widely accepted test to confirm that a student has the English language skills needed to succeed in an academic setting. Taking the test is an essential part of students’ study abroad preparation as well as an advantage in their admission into prestigious domestic universities.

- To be eligible for a verification letter of test result, candidates must achieve a minumum score of 360.
- To request a verification letter of the test result while registering for the exam, pay an additional fee of 120,000 VND along with your exam fee. You will receive the verification letter when you collect your Score Certificate.
- For the request made after the Score Certificate is available, candidates will need to register for both verification letter and certified copy services at the same time as the verification letter is only valid when submitted with the score certificate. - Certified copies and verification letters will be sent to the designated organization around two weeks after the request is made. The combined fee for both of these services, along with the delivery fee, is 240,000 VND.

- Institutions make request by sending a hard copy of the signed and stamped Letter of Enquiry on Result Verification with enclosed list of candidates to IIG Verification Department at 217 Quan Hoa, Nghia Do, Ha Noi; or a soft copy of the signed and stamped Letter of Enquiry on Result Verification with an excel file of candidates information to haukiem@iigvietnam.edu.vn
- The Result Verification response time should not exceed 5 working days. 
- IIG Vietnam will respond via an official letter sent via email, and the hard copy will also be sent to the institution through postal mail.

IIG Vietnam provides certified copies of the Score Certificate and sends them to the candidate's requesting organization. Candidates will not receive certified copies of the Score Certificate. Each certified copy can be dispatched exclusively to a single address. If needed, candidates can request multiple certified copies to send to different addresses.
To request a certified copy of the Score Certificate, certain conditions must be met: (1) the TOEIC Score Certificate should still be valid; (2) candidates should initiate the request process at least 14 days before the Score Certificate's expiration date; and (3) the original TOEIC score must be 200 or higher. 
To complete the request, candidates should visit the IIG Vietnam Office and provide the following:
- The original ID card/Citizen ID card used for test registration.
- A 3x4 ID photo similar to the one on the issued Score Certificate (For paper-based TOEIC tests registered in person at IIG Vietnam office before 21/04/2025).
- A photocopy of the TOEIC Score Certificate (if the original Score Certificate is lost, a photocopy of the ID card/Citizen ID card must be provided).
- A fee of 120,000 VND per copy.
- If you registered for the test through a different agency (not IIG Vietnam's counter or test sites), you must obtain a confirmation letter from that agency, allowing you to request the service at IIG Vietnam.. 
- Copies will be sent to the desinated organization approximately 2 weeks after the request.
